Mama, I enjoy your enthusiasm, but you've essentially hijacked this discussion and tried overlay some type of lame attempt to illustrate USF in a great light academically.  For the most part the big 6 conferences are comprised of the top 125-150 schools in the nation.  USF is third tier and doesn't fit.

In the last conference expansion there was some MAJOR grumblings when USF was taken.  Many schools refused to accept the idea, but we had some strong allies in Louisville and a few BE members.  USF got lucky before, and it's not USF's fault, or any of the FL schools for that matter, that we score so low academically compared to our peers.  This forced low tuition, the state governing the Universities, the lack of a tiering system, a lukewarm interest from the state legislation in research has held back ALL OF our Universities.  Even UF, comparatively speaking, is ranked extremely low to comparable flag-ship, land-grant State Universities like UVA, UNC, Maryland, Michigan, OSU, PSU, and even many SEC schools.  The rankings don't lie...and to date USF is going to have a real tough time jumping back into another super conference (so will UCF, FAU, or FIU too) if the BE were to implode based on our academic prowess.

I keep saying if all this happens, and the BE lost one don't be surprised if Buffalo gets mentioned prominently in discussions.  The AAU membership as well as the major strides all their athletics have made in recent years will show well.

;D  Not really, just feel like it's setting up that way.  The common choice if one departs is we just go to C-DOA like it's an on-going pez dispenser...but the best was already taken from there and I have strong doubts from all the posturing that there is anyone being bantied who they'd consider again, or at least wouldn't want to put other options up against it.

Hard to believe the university has only been around for 54 years.

Pretty amazing how far USF has come in such a short period.

USF is in  a much better position today than it was when it joined the Big East. It still has a way to go, but clearly it is moving up.

With a 213% increase between

2000-2007, no other American

university grew its federal

research enterprise at a faster

rate than USF, according to the

Chronicle of Higher Education’s

2009-10 Almanac.
