I would like to thank the marketing department for another jinx to our sports programs.  Whereas I love the attention, the school needs to realize that making a big highlight as it does everytime we have a positive, and trying to make it an ad-hoc campaign.

One, we have to start looking like we expect to do great.  These campaigns (DOJO, 4 on FL, Etc.) are the equivalent to a guy dancing for a first down.

Second, I think it puts undo pressure on the team to live the hype.

Lastly, they are the fodder for jokes when we trip.

Those campaigns are nothing more than trying to turn unexpected success into increased ticket sales ... It's a **** tough call but i really can't fault them for doing whatever they can to advance the programs financially, which is their job.

Big time college sports is all about pressure. It's the coaches' job to see the teams handle whatever pressure as well as possible ...

Lastly, they are the fodder for jokes when we trip

Just avoid message boards for while after we trip ...  ;)

The marketing department was dead on.  The teams let them down, plain and simple.  If the teams in both instances end up finishing with stellar seasons, then the atmosphere by that time would've been at a fever pitch.  Enough to actually challenge the apathy that surrounds USF Athletics in Tampa Bay.  You have to be willing to risk being wrong or jumping early if you're going to reap the biggest awards.  Doing nothing gains you nothing.  Even being wrong, you'd be shocked how many more people will now check a USF box score that wouldn't have before out of pure curiosity to see how the train wreck ended.
