You need to clear it ahead of time if you are traveling to Toronto.

Things such as a DUI or other relatively minor criminal offense here in the USA will DENY you entry to Canada.  Do not wait until you are at the border to find out that you will not be allowed in to the country because you were arrested 10 years ago.  Clear it ahead of time

This type of thing definitely would effect me if I was in fact headed to the bowl game

Criminal records

Individuals with criminal records wishing to enter Canada can apply for a waiver. This should be done a minimum of 3 - 4 weeks in advance of the intended visit and can take up to 6 months. It should be noted that Driving Under the Influence convictions are considered a criminal offense in Canada Individuals with criminal records without waivers can be refused entry.

Don’t Take A Gamble

Persons without waivers who have only DUI's or other less serious criminal convictions and have no criminal convictions in the past 10 years may be considered rehabilitated when they reach the border - BUT this is at the Canada Immigration officer's discretion. It is well worth the extra effort to apply for a waiver and eliminate the worry of being refused entry because the Immigration officer is grouchy.

thats pretty funny...

but seriously, i just thought some of the people on this board may have also been arrested before, and might have trouble getting into Canada.

iexample:  if i was going to the game, i would be denied entry Canada on a conviction from 7 years ago based on their stipulations, and i would be really pis*ed if i got  to the border just to have turn around and come all the way home

pretty common for college kids to get minor arrests so i thought id pass the info along JIC someone needs to take care of it before hand.

Convicted?  No, never convicted.

Well sir, we were on our way to the bingo parlor and one thing led to another.

One of my favorite movies of all time.

I almost posted something about this last week but didn't out of embarassment as this is the only reason I won't be making the game.

Even if your awaiting trial and not convicted you are inadmissable.
