At-large bowl?

Recommended Posts

I think we are likely to go to PJC, though St. Pete will want a UCF-USF matchup.

Perhaps you missed the story where the St Pete Bowl was quoted as saying they didn't want USF this year ? ? ?

So, official prediction from moi:

BCS Title:  UF versus someone (hopefully Nebraska wins and it's Cincy)

Sugar:  Alabama versus Cincinnati (most likely)

Cap One: LSU vs. Iowa (Penn State will get a BCS slot)

Outback: Georgia vs. Wisconsin

Cotton Bowl: Arkansas vs. Nebraska

Chick-Fil-A: Tennessee vs. Clemson

Liberty: South Carolina vs. Houston

Music City: Kentucky vs. North Carolina

Independence: Texas A&M vs. Ole Miss

PJC Bowl: Auburn vs. USF

I think your SEC picks are off a bit... here is my guess

BCS: Florida & Alabama  (one in NC and one in Sugar)

Capitol One: Ole Miss v Iowa

Cotton: LSU v Oklahoma State

SEC will ask Cap One and Cotton to work together... Ole Miss went to Dallas last year, so the SEC will strongly urge the Rebels to Orlando freeing up LSU to go to the Cotton Bowl

Outback: Georgia vs Wisonsin  (Iowa was in Tampa last year against South Carolina)

Chick-fil-A: South Carolina v Virginia Tech

Liberty: Tennessee v Houston

Music City: Kentucky v North Carolina

Independence: Arkansas v Iowa State

PJC: Auburn v USF

But I agree with the selection of Auburn... it makes sense from availability and proximity.

My Big East bowl matchup predictions:

BCS: Cincy (in Sugar Bowl)

Gator: WVU v Clemson

Meineke: Pitt v Miami

PJC: USF v Auburn

Int'l: Rutgers v Temple

St Pete: U Conn v UCF

Also, bowls stopped being rewards for a good season a long time ago.

Yep and that is when you started receiving mediocre football.

The SEC can ask the CapOne to play nice as much as they want, but the CapOne is a big payout (think it's the biggest non-BCS), so what CapOne wants, CapOne gets.  Why would they want Ole Miss over LSU?

Of course the problem is that Outback is tied in to the SEC East and Ole Miss got Cotton last year.

With all non-BCS eligible teams pretty much within one game of each other outside of LSU, the bowls will get to pick what they want outside of Music City and Liberty.  Realistically, the SEC will likely put Ole Miss in one of those games.  Problem is they likely don't want South Carolina too far removed for their state.  The SEC does play geographically with their bowls.  That's why the Cotton is tied to the SEC West and the Outback to the SEC East.  Who else is a good fit for Shreveport?  LSU isn't dropping that far down.  Maybe they throw Kentucky in there.

Big problem for the PJC is that the Independence will want Auburn if they can't get Ole Miss.  Ole Miss is a good fit there.  Not too far removed from their state and fanbase.  Kentucky and SC work best in Tennessee.  Tennessee upgrades because of their name and draw.  Rocky Top has got a lot of fans.

PJC Bowl: Auburn vs. USF

That would be awesome

Bulls will get spanked badly by an SEC team with time to prepare and singular focus

funny coming from me

but i think usf has chance to win this game because sec will be so disheartened to play usf
