Central Florida's Solomon Jones could start for Pacers

Dropped into Indiana's shootaround this morning to chat with Pacers' coach Jim O'Brien and central Florida-raised Solomon Jones.

Jones, who went to Mount Dora High School, Daytona Beach Community College and USF, signed a two-year deal with the Pacers this offseason. O'Brien said the team was in desperate need of athleticism up front and Jones provided that. He's listed as a probable starter for tonight's exhibition against the Magic.

Jones, a skinny 6-10 center, told me how once a Coach at DBCC told him he could make a lot of money playing basketball if he worked on his game, The main thing he needed to improve was his strength. As Jones started talking about the hours he put in at the gym, the Pacers' strength coach walked by and started laughing.

Later, Jones passed him again in a hallway at Amway.

"What?" Jones said. "I'm buff!"

Hope he does well this year

I believe that's refering to geographic location of his hometown, rather than his University.
