Let's worry about beating Memphis first. If USF can get to 5-5, then maybe we can start thinking about this again.

IF USF beats Memphis to go to 5-5 they could get a deal where theyll go if they beat Pitt if not someonelse takes their place. Similar to the deal  USF had with Hawaii Bowl waiting on the ECU-Cincy game a few years ago.

Clemson, S. Carolina might face bowl suspension for brawl

 There are strong indications that Clemson and South Carolina will not be allowed to play in bowl games following Saturday's melee between the two teams, SportsLine.com has learned.

Lou Holtz intimated that Saturday was his "last game" Monday morning at his retirement announcement. The veteran coach said what a shame it would be that he went out like Woody Hayes, his mentor. Hayes punched a Clemson player. Holtz was a peacemaker in Saturday's wild melee and made his disgust known after the game.

An SEC source told SportsLine.com that suspension of South Carolina from a bowl game was "on the table." The conference will have an announcement "one way or another" at approximately 4 p.m. ET.

ACC officials could not be immediately reached. South Carolina is holding a press conference later Monday to address Saturday's game.

Several Gamecocks and Tigers fought Saturday during a wild 10-minute brawl in the fourth quarter of Clemson's 29-7. The fight coming less than a day after the NBA riot in Detroit, ACC and SEC officials might be concerned about publicity generated if the two schools go to bowl games.

Holtz said during his announcement that if it took him stepping aside for the bowl, he hoped South Carolina would be allowed to play.

Suspension of the teams could also be partially in response to the strict suspensions handed down by NBA commissioner David Stern.

Keeping Clemson out of a bowl would have negligible financial impact on the ACC. The conference currently has seven bowl-eligible teams for its six guaranteed spots.

It's official, Sportsline is now reporting that neither Clemson nor South Carolina will accept bowl invitations. Good news for USF, if we can get to 6-5 we might have some place to go.

What a sad state of affairs college football has become where you award a team that goes 6-5 with one of those wins being 1-aa.  On top of that, from a below average conference.

The BCS report on ESPN is wrong... if both Utah and Louisville are in the Top 6, the highest ranked of the two is automatic... the other becomes at large ... and the bowls have the choice... the Rose picks first, since USC will likely be gone... that means the Rose will pick Cal... so forget about L'ville going to the BCS.
