Mark, with yourself being a former Bull, is discipline taught by the coaching staff or is it left for the individual to "work on?" Are there any reprocussions for these players who lack it? I agree to hit them hard where it hurts concerning playing time. But why does this lack of discipline keep reoccurring like a bad migrane that won't go away? And this jerasey thing and the so called "swagger" and pimping?" Why are the coaches letting these players get away with it? Sorry to single you out with these questions. I just feel you have the inside track on what is going on?    Thanks.    Reaper

I think most people including Mark would say that the coaches have to provide and illustrate the discipline...It's not self-taught at that age for most kids...But I defer to Mark who has been there and done that.

I think a lot of people will agree with discipline being an issue.

Not so much the kind of discipline issues we've seen in the past - multiple personal fouls.  But simply being a mature focused team going into a game.  That alone will help with the penalty issue.

Someone mentioned a while back (and again recently about what motivational tool the coaches will use for Friday) the problem with "getting up" for every game.  This is taught in Spring and Fall.  Not game week.  In my opinion, we have not taken these guys and given them the game face to have on for a long season.  I think we probably do rely on "getting up" for each game and some games we just don't get up for.  We need to approach the season as a whole and not various pieces that we'll motivate for when it gets here.

I could be way off, but I think great teams (and we're not one by the way) don't need an emotional energy drink before each game.  They simply come out and get it done, confident in their abilities.  I'd like to see a little less pregame dancing and laughing and have the look of a team about to go to battle to win a game.

I think you are right. I wish there was punishment for dumb penalties. Like when an RB fumbles the ball he sits on the bench. When a player misses class he gets suspended. When a player gives up a 15 yard penalty for facemask, pass interference, or a late hit he should sit on the bench for at least a few plays. There is not a single player on our team that cannot be replaced by a decent backup player. Might as well teach them a lesson.
