Gator Bowl adding Big Ten

Recommended Posts

Oh... it's not 100% certain:

The Capital One Bowl has an exclusive time window with the Big Ten and SEC to air its second half without competition. That bowl begins at noon our time, as does the Gator Bowl. Catlett said the exclusive window would have to move or his start time. That hasn’t been worked out just yet.

The Gator Bowl also is close to extending its sponsorship with Minolta. It currently airs on CBS, and it could move to the ESPN family of networks, depending on how the exclusivity arrangement with the Capital One Bowl plays out. If it falls apart, look for the Big East to hook up again with the Gator Bowl.

The football conference is perceived weaker by the second. A real national title contender emerging would be nice. The BEAST needs a 12-0 team, 11-1, and a 10-2.

Let's not forget a sweep of the bowls.

Champs is worse than Gator.  Unless we get champs and sun this does not look to be an improvement.

Agree 100%

I don't think anyone ever expected an "improvement" with the current situation.  Heck, the Big East doesn't even have a Top 25 team!

Quotes from the new commissioner said it would be better.  Also, the references to "negotiating from a position of strength."  If you are going to hardball and say "ND only once every 4 years or nothing", you better have a better option, or at least one just as good.

Like our commissioner would say "yeah, we're screwed. we're really hoping the Notre Dame once in four years is good enough"...

It does look like we'll get the Sun Bowl... or maybe we get the Insight back... based on what's happening with the other bowls.

But... as I pointed out above... the Gator's deal with the Big Ten is not set yet and could still fall through.

How bout we say to one of these bowls offering 3 mill, Look we just want to beat the other conference. Take our number 2 team and give us 2.25 or 2.5 instead of the 3 you are dishing out. We need a good bowl for our non BCS #2 squad. Meineke is a good one for our number 3.

The problem is ND.  They will be tied to the #2 bowl.  So if Meineke is good for the #3, note that some years it could be the #2 playing there.

Well if you don't mean it, don't negotiate in a way that the other side calls your bluff.

Pre season polls are meaningless. Let's see where the Big East is in mid October when polls should be released.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
