Coach Heath says he wants to sign a Combo Guard, Small Forward, and Big Man in this class.

As Coach says there is a lot of talent in the 2010 class.

Here are a few names that are mentioned with South Florida so far:

Pe'Shon Howard  6-3, Oak Hill Academy (Va.}

Waverly Austin 6-11, God’s Academy (Fla.)

Isaiah Sykes, 6-5, Finney High School (Mich.)

Anthony Myles 6-4. Poly Tech (Del.)

Khyle Marshall 6-6, Pembroke Pines (FL)

Russ Smith 6ft Archbishop Molloy (NYC)

Jonathan Graham 6-8 PF/C  Baltimore (MD)

Ray McCallum 6-1, Detroit Country Day School (Mi)

Rion Brown 6-5, Liberty County (Ga)

Jershon Cobb 6-5, Columbia (Ga)

Javon McKay 6-5, Dunwoody (Ga)- committed to Tenn Tech

Trae Golden 6-2, Powder Springs (Ga)

JP Olukemi 6-6, Vincennes (IN)

Anthony Thomas, 6-6, (Winston-Salem) NC

Maurice Jones 5-6 PG, Saginaw(Mi)

Jelani Hewitt 6-3 PG, East Lee County

Cady Lulane 6-8 PF, Orlando(Fl)

Marvell Waithe 6-9 SF, Tallahassee (FL)

Victor Oladipo 6-4, Hyattsville (MD)

Charles Hankerson 6-5, Miami (FL) - committed to  Alabama

There are some real talented players in that group and those are just the first wave of names I could come up with. There will be a host of JC players the team will take a look at too. However they are usually harder to find out about this time of the year. I just hope one of the names is Ricardo Ratliffe.

Good stuff, Vega. I hope an improvement in play this year will translate to an improvement in recruiting.

I'd like to see Ray McCallum Jr follow Dumars here.  I'm sure that is a long shot.

Vega:  Good start.  I saw a report about a kid from Kentucky, Delano Johnson.  He's a 6' 4" combo type player.  The report said we were looking at him.  Could be the new coach that was on Gillespie's staff at Kentucky that is recruiting him.

I think you mean Ricardo Johnson who is the #1 player in the state of Kentucky. Yes South Florida is very interested and they have been recruiting since late last year when they were after Vee Sanford who ended up at G'Town.

Having two coaches on staff that are familiar with Johnson certainly helps USF.

Thanks.  I made the mistake of filing the report away in the grey matter...which doesn't work as well as it used to.  I wasn't sure how interested we were in him since he reported offers only from MAC schools and Cincy.  The report was at the very beginning of the July evaluation period.  The report said he was going to a camp at Miami of Ohio.  At least it is some intel into our targets.

Vega:  Add Trae Golden from the Atlanta Celtics team to your list.  he claims we have offered him, but supposedly UVA leads for him.

One juco possibility is JP Olukemi, a small forward from Vincennes JC in Indiana.  The last article on him had Oklahoma leading however.

Both of the guys you mentioned recently are now added. Also have stratched Javon McKay off the list as he has committed to Tenn Tech. I have added Anthony Thomas( 6-6 Wing) out of  Winston-Salem, NC to the list. Apparently has offers from VT and South Florida. Just added Maurice Jones a little 5-6 PG out of Saginaw(Mi)

Vega, Rivals mentioned us being involved with 6' 9" forward Marvell Waithe of Tallahassee CC.  Add him to the list also.
