Is it going?

Not yet

USF and Connecticut were scheduled for a 3:45 p.m. start here in the Big East baseball tournament, but the grounds crew has already rolled out the tarp in anticipation of a storm system moving in from the southeast.

For the third day in a row, we're in a rain delay. The press box has lots of laptops looking at weather radar, and there's the potential for a decent delay if the storms stay on the path they're on right now. Stay tuned for updates here

Big East officials said they will try and wait out the monsoon and get the USF-UConn game in tonight, if possible.

The latest they would start tonight’s game is 10 or 10:30 p.m.

If USF-UConn doesn’t get played tonight, the teams are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.

League officials said they are trying to get in at least the USF-UConn game tonight, but the game between Notre Dame and St. John’s has already officially been moved to Friday. The latest postponements mean that a 1 p.m. championship for Saturday is unlikely.

Big East spokesman Chuck Sullivan said the 1 p.m. Saturday ESPNU slot could be used as a semifinal game, since the final pairing wouldn’t be determined yet.

Here’s the latest updated schedule:

Big East Tournament

Tuesday’s results

Notre Dame 14, St. John’s 5

Louisville 12, Cincinnati 2

UConn 6, West Virginia 1

Wednesday’s results

USF 12, Pittsburgh 2

St. John’s 12, Cincinnati 2 (Cincinnati eliminated)

Thursday’s results/schedule

Louisville 12, Notre Dame 2

West Virginia 20, Pittsburgh 8 (Pittsburgh eliminated)

Game 8: TBA (in rain delay) - UConn vs. USF

Friday’s schedule

Game 9: 10 a.m. - St. John’s vs. Notre Dame (loser eliminated)

Game 10: 1 p.m. - West Virginia vs. Game 8 loser (loser eliminated)

Game 11: 5 p.m. - Louisville vs. Winner Game 9

Game 12: 8 p.m. - Winners Games 8 and 10

Saturday’s schedule

Game 13: TBA - Rematch of Game 11, if necessary

Game 14: TBA - Rematch of Game 12, if necessary

Championship, 1 p.m. (ESPNU)

After six hours of rain delay, the Big East has given up on trying to play a scheduled game between USF and Connecticut tonight. The two teams will meet Friday morning at 10, weather permitting.

Less dancing and better baseball sounds good.
