Grothe has seen plenty of true speed during his career. Most of the schools in the BE recruit quite well in FL due to their old ties (read ESPN.com once in awhile and check out all the FL speed BE teams have). Also the OOC teams we have played in the last few years have pretty good speed as well.

Ponder is a crappy replacement for an even crappier Drew Weatherford who got benched his senior season for a freshman. FSU's D will be good, but not as good as our offense. We are more experienced and talented on that side of the ball. Also our special teams will be sick this year with all the speed we have coming in from these new recruits. If you haven't, take a look at the young guns we got coming in and watch some tape. Most of these guys also ran track and put up phenominal times off the field so every kickoff and punt will be exciting to watch.

The thing that will work in our advantage will be the fact that FSU won't have great tape to study of us from our first 3 games, as Canales and Leavitt have said they won't be showing too much of our new offense in our games before FSU. On the flip side, we should have decent tape of them since they have to play tougher teams to start off the year. Also expect USF to run some dual QB plays kind of like the Wildcat or like UF did with Leak and Tebow a few years ago. Leavitt and Canales like Landi at reciever and BJ with the ball in his hands, and have said they want to get both of these guys the ball in their hands this year.

Bulls over the Noles...no doubt about it.

First, Ponder was a sophomore, not a freshman when he beat out Weatherford. Second, do you not think FSU has blazing speed? Check out FSU's track team, which has a couple football players on it. Speed doesn't make special teams "sick," If your blockers can't block, then your speedy return guy is a sitting duck. FSU's also got a freshman kicker who can easily kick it out of the endzone everytime to avoid any runbacks.

TO's will tell the tale if we protect the ball we have a shot.

also the Oline will be intresting if the juco excel

looking forward to seeing tressey D and some of the speed on D,

also want to see some speed and trick plays on O

31-21. . . . . we lose.

Since we are not going to sneak up on FSU, this would be, IMO,  the first time in USF history (with apologies to the game we won against TCU in Ft. Worth) that we just rolled into a better-than-average team's stadium and laid an L on them despite the fact they accurately sized us up and, they themselves, played well.

In short, they need the win, they know we are a going to be a tough opponent and they are at home.

We will be down by 10 early and match them point-for-point after that.

Hope I'm wrong.

Exactly what I was thinking... FSU is horrible on the close games and if we keep this close they will choke.

27-24 USF
