Agreed... but that also begs the question... what defines improvement?

More wins alone?  Better play but no more wins?

I'm sure it is a fuzzy line... but I am curious to hear what people's definition is of improvement.

We played some **** good basketball in spurts last year against good teams... but just didn't have the horses.  We finished with a bad record... but we definitely improved from the year before, in my eyes.  And if we can improve by that much this year... i'll be a happy camper... because we are starting to get the horses in the stable to match up with our effort/determination.

and a deep enough bench where someone fouling out does not spell doom instantly.

exactly, and I definitely believe that is where this year's team separates itself from past seasons.

Going to need the 3 freshmen  shooters to step up and make shots. If we can do that then I see a very exciting season ahead. Also hoping Rivas can come back healthy mid December, because we need him. Our center spot is only him and Famous.

Sorry, but if Gus or Famous get into foul trouble or foul out, we ARE in trouble.  If either has a serious injury, we are done.  Rivas is our best depth, because you know we cannot count on Fitzpatrick day in and day out as a true frosh.  Rivas is a big step down offensively compared to Gilchrist and Famous.  That's assuming he can come back healthy and play.  As long as Gus and Famous are in shape enough to play 35-36 minutes a game, and they are not in foul trouble, we will be competitive.

Do whatever voodoo you do to help make sure our big guys stay healthy, or it will be a slow painful march to March.

Normal

Yes depth is not a concern in the backcourt and it is in the frontcourt. Backcourt depth will allow Heath to play more pressing defenses which we haven't been able to use.

Some might not know but Heath has outstanding zone pressure defenses in his grab bag that he hasn't use yet. Heath by trait is a man-to-man defensive coach but he will play zone when it is needed to switch things up. I expect to see that a lot to protect our Bigs from foul trouble. Also with our guards pressuring the other teams' backcourt that helps out our Bigs as well.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
