So I'm pretty new to following CFB recruiting. By my count we have about 30 (give or take) commitments. Now how many of these recruits are USF going to take? All of them? How many of them will get scholarships.

Sorry for being so naive on the topic.

You can only have 25 scholarships given out initially in a single class.  No more than 85 total for the team.  Out of 30 (if we take that many) 1 (Anthony Hill) is already enrolled and counting towadrs last year's class.  There are 2-4 that will probably not qualify.  Even if they all qualify some will be asked to greyshirt, that is, delay enrollment until the spring and count towards next year's class.

Once USF sees who will not qualify they'll end up greyshirting a few kids to hit their marks. It's all a big balancing act that has to do with who is here, who is leaving, and who is coming in and when.

Qualify means satisfying the NCAA minimum test scores and GPAs.  Low GPA requires a higher score, and vice versa.  Also, the player has to be accepted into USF also.  That should not be a problem this year if the kid is already qualified.

There is no way USF simply does not take a player, as it is bad publicity and could ruin a relationship with the kid's HS coaches etc.  If there were too many kids, a couple would be asked to delay enrollment.

This will be obviously our best class so far, ya think this will cause USF to raise the bar in future recruiting classes? or will their "standard" remain the same as they will see this as a "lucky" year?

The bar has been raised... and the thing is, this kind of success tends to build on itself.

2010 recruits will see that top-level talent does come to USF... and succeed.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
