Is that type of a game plan only worth running against a poor D? The few times we used some of those schemes at UL (play action, roll out, etc.) they were successful. With the exception of our two touchdown passes, we went back to our predictable vanilla O. Grothe was hurried most of the game and sacked several times, and the play calling was not changed. I'm trying to figure out the justification for this?

There is NO justification for it and that is why Gregory needs to go!

Its obvious we need a new OC. If anyone on this board thinks Gregory is doing a good job, you need to check yourself.

I think Gregory is doing a good job and I check myself daily, thank you.  To answer the original question...Louisville happened.  Louisville is a significant upgrade over Syracuse, in case you hadn't noticed.

Yeah, and the play calling was a significant down grade!

Are you surprised?

So you are of the opinion that the roll outs and play action with some passes to the RB from last week would not have worked or was not an option against UL? That is all I am asking. Perhaps they wouldn't have made any difference, but I am just wondering why we didn't try when our line was having so much trouble with the rush.

I thought the play calling was atrocious.  I agree Normal that Louisville is better than Cuse, but we didn't try anything that worked so well last week.  Last year when we lost the three in a row, those teams blitzed and coach greg didn't do anything to adjust to it.  It is happening again and what do we have? an empty backfield.

I'd almost be willing to let anyone give it a try.

You know how these other schools have had walk on contests like Texas Tech's new kicker coming from a promotion during a game and stuff?

How about we let some students come in and do the playcalling?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
