Offense needs to jump on them fast and point points on the board so they can't stick with the run so much.

I agree, scoring early and often takes a lot of the pressure off.

We need to shut down their inside running game from the get-go, and make them run outside where our speed advantage is.

We need to watch for their dink and dunk passes over the middle

If we can keep them throwing, and off-balance, we can ROLL!

The pitt o-line?  Well they're powerful.  Awfully good.  The way that center snaps the ball.  Wow.  We'll have to play as good as we know.  Powerful line.  Powerful.

For being a 'running team' Pitt is only ranked 62nd in the country in total rush offense.  In fact USF is rated quite a bit higher than Pitt on rush offense at 28th.  If there OL is 'so good' why the trouble rushing against MAC teams like Buffalo, and BGSU.  UCF's rush defense is significantly better than those two.

True enough we've got the fourth best rush defense in the country but we haven't faced a truly good rush team yet either.  But to date Pitt hasn't proven to be a 'good rush team' just adaquate.  This will be the best rush offense we've faced but not by a long shot either.  UCF is ranked 63rd, just a space behind PITT so think about that for a moment, and UCF faced USF and BC.

Here a bit more for you all to grapple with.

Pitt has faced BGSU the 82nd ranked rush defense that held Pitt to 129yards rushing on 3.7ypc

Buffalo the 53rd rated rush defense held Pitt to 111 yards rushing on 3.6 ypc

Syracuse the 105th rated rush defense held Pitt to 241 yards rushing on 5.2 ypc

Iowa has the 29th best rush defense and held Pitt to 130 yards rushing on 4.2ypc

USF faced the following.

UCF has the 43rd best rush defense held us to 164 yards on 3.8ypc

KU has the 20th best rush defense and held us to 126yards on 4.1ypc (we were running well but fell so far behind so early)

FIU has hte 80th best rush defense and held us to 198 yards rushing on 4.0 ypc

NCST has the 90th best rush defense and we ran for 254 yards and a 5.4 ypc

Pitt hasn't faced a rush defense as good as ours, and the last defense they faced close was Iowa and Buffalo which each held them to 130 yards or less.  Pitt's rush defense is as good as UCF's and half as good as KU's.

Just some food for thought folks.
