its a long season but you are probably right about the SEC or USC. if the conference can perform in our big twelve matchups: USF v Kansas, WVU v Colorado, Cincy v Oklahoma, Louisville v K State, then we have a chance.  we will also need WVU to be highly ranked for that last game.

however I don't think any undefeated BCS team has been passed over for a one loss yet so we should just go undefeated and see what happens.

I completely agree with Smazza. I was looking at it and that is pretty much the boat we are in. But hey, I'll take an undefeated season any way it comes.

I think margin of victories would effect our post season placement. The way things roll... who knows. Just like last year, we could have a very favorable turn of events which move us up to say #2 again. If that happens again, and we can finish 12-0 (Cautious optimism!), then we will likely be in a NC game. More realistically, though, just getting into a BCS game and/or winning the Big East will be fantastic and further grow the fanbase. I think it's important we win all our home games, as well, because I can see disenfranchised fans after games like Cincinnati last year.

I don't give a rat's rear about the national title this year.  Win the Big East, win our bowl game. Once we win the conference at least once maybe we can worry about the.  MNC.  Maybe I'm the only one.
