At least they owned up to it.  Cost us a dang game though...

"Looking back at that occurrence, for the first and last time, it was a missed call," Port said. "And it was not because Doug Eddings, an umpire with 10 years experience, and 10 before that in the minor leagues, didn't know the application of the rule, but just that in the moment in applying the rule, he saw something he thought was more than it turned out to be."

I really don't have a problem with Eddings on this. He thought he saw something that wasn't. The problem is with the other three umps who didn't have the balls to overrule him ...

You guys have a 4 1/2 game lead in the East... its a virtual lock to make the playoffs and more than likely, a lock for the division crown.  That one blown call won't likely matter in the grand scheme.

If all stays as is, you guys will have the AL Central winner in the ALDS... unless the wild card comes from the AL Central, in which case, you'd likely get them instead.

Possible ALDS matchups in order of most likely to least likely

Scenario 1

Anaheim (#1 or #2) vs Boston (WC thus #4)

TB (#2 or #1) vs AL Central Champ (#3)

(being 1 or 2 doesn't matter in this scenario, as TB can't play boston in the ALDS since they are in the same division.  It would matter if Anaheim and TB won, for who gets home field in the ALCS)

Scenario 2

Tampa bay(#1) vs AL Central Runner up(WC thus #4)

Anaheim (#2) vs AL Central Champ(#3)

Scenario 3

Anaheim (#1) vs AL Central Runner up (WC thus #4)

Tampa Bay (#2) vs AL Central Champ (#3)

Scenario 4 (less likely)

Anaheim (#1) vs Tampa bay (WC thus #4)

Boston (#2) vs AL Central Champ (#3)

Scenario 5 (least likely... in fact... probably a 1% or less chance)

Anaheim (#1) vs AL Central Loser (WC thus #4)

Boston (#2) vs AL Central Champ (#3)

Yeah, that's true.  Especially the 3rd base ump.  Where was his eyes on the play?  He should of been able to easily see down the line.

They all saw the play, they were just to chickenshit to overrule one ofh their own ...

Gee thanks.  I'd rather have another win than an apology.

I knew it was a horrible call right when I watched it happen.
