It's all about starting pitching now for the Rays.  With Josh Beckett coming up a little lame, right now I think the Rays have the best starting five in their division.  With EJax putting in 4-5 straight strong outings we now have five pitchers capable of taking the team to 6-7 innings consistently not giving up more than 4 runs night in, and night out.  That means no one has been rocked in a very long-time, and if all five can keep it up it will really help them in the home stretch to win the division and keep all the games close enough and within reach for the bats even if we don't get going early.  Tonight was another similar situation, Shields goes 8 innings giving up 2 runs against possibly the best line-up in baseball.  Last night it was Sonastein giving up 2 in 61/3.  Keep that up and this team will be hard to knock off their perch because they probably won't go on a prolonged losing streak.  Tomorrow night you get the feeling Garza will probably give us 6-7 innings and again not surrendering more than 2-4.  Hard for teams to beat us if they can't get to the starter early.

best starting 5 in the division?  we have the best starting 5 in the league.  the only team that comes close is the blue jays but they dont have the depth at 4 or 5 that we have.

plus we have MEGA prospect David Price in the wings too.
