Nice to see some football publication, other than Scout, had news of the six verbals on their first page:

Bulls Get Saturday Rush

Christmas came early for USF coach Jim Leavitt over the weekend as he received six commitments during the program’s “SuperBull†camp over the weekend.

The Bulls received commitments from Hallandale seniors Ricardo Dixon and Victor Marc, Lake Mary defensive lineman Demi Thompson, Lake Gibson wide receiver Anthony Leon Woods and Tallahassee Leon wide receiver James Green. USF also received a verbal from Thomasville (Ga.) linebacker Tyrone Williams.

“This is a banner day for the Bulls,†said FloridaFB.com’s Larry Blustein. “They continue to go after quality, versatile athletes that respond to good coaching, that’s why they continue to inch closer to nationally elite status.â€Â

Dixon, a transfer from Dr. Krop, is part of a revamped Hallandale secondary where big things are expected out of him and top safety prospect A’Kevis Anderson. Marc is currently a quarterback for the Chargers but don’t be surprised to see the 6-2, 215-pounder playing on the other side of the ball for USF.

“The Bulls have had great luck taking athletic quarterbacks and finding ways to get them on the field,†Blustein added. “Nate Allen was a quarterback at Cape Coral and now he’s one of the rising prospects at safety.â€Â

With Marc’s size he could be expected to be Allen’s understudy at safety or play linebacker.

Meanwhile the Bulls also beefed up their receiving corps with the commitments of Green and Woods. Green, the nephew of former FSU standout Lamont Green, should enter the program with the chance to play early.

“He has had some of the best schooling on how the game is played thanks to his uncle,†Blustein added. “He’s a big, physical receiver who can catch the ball in traffic and will provide some favorable matchups.

But Blustein is especially high on Woods, who has seen his stock rise after a strong junior season and efforts at offseason 7-on-7 tournaments.

“Woods is probably the gem of this group,†Blustein said. “Here’s a player who is moving up the charts so fast he could be one of the top three receivers in the state by the end of the year. Even though he’s committed, there is a good chance he’s going to receive some big-time offers that will challenge that.â€Â

Thompson (6-1, 245) could be another one of the USF’s specialties – a player who might be a little raw but will work himself into a major role, much like George Selvie.

“This is a big, physical kid whose best football is ahead of him,†Blustein said. “And that’s why USF jumped on him so quickly. They see someone who can be coached up because he already shown the desire by working hard in the weight room and in practice.†

If Blustein says Woods is the best of this group that is high praise.  Lake Gibson has been good for us.

Now, I'm hoping we can land another WR Stedman Bailey from Miramar.

He was the favorite target for heralded QB Eugene Smith last year.

Hopefully, if Bailey comes Smith will follow and that would be a major recruiting coup.

That's because Josh Newberg is good friends with Larry Blustein. He mentioned writing a story for them...this may be it.

Was this the first year USF had the "SuperBull" Camp?  Is so, why?

Yes, this is the first year. In years past USF has had a 7 on 7 camp and a Senior Showcase camp. Both held at USF. I believe that this camp is meant to replace the senior showcase. USF will be holding a 7 on 7 camp and side camp for lineman later this summer.

Holding the camp at RJS was a really smart move, I think. The kids got to tour the stadium and their parents got to watch from the stands which is a big step up from watching from the practice fields. Oh...and yes, the field was painted. (U only.)

Can we please stop bringing up the "ESPN top 150 watch list"  There are over 1400 players on the list so it's not exactly exclusive.

Well, the fans on the Rutgers and some of the other Big East boards are always bringing it up as something positive for them.

Actually TWO of our 150 watchlist recruits are named ALL-AMERICANS. I don't think any of the other BE schools have even one.

Also, I was posting that link so people can see what they have to WRITE about the players. They have some informative notes on most of them.

Actually Mama Bull,  RU has 2 All Americans with verbals. Tom Savage was the first selection the the Army All American game and was MVP at their combine, and Mark Brazinski (Scout #1 Center) is on the UA roster. Maybe Lowery is the tie breaker here?? Love your posts on our site!

Ok, I didn't see the A-A notation on the ESPN RU list as I did for USF.

I'll make you a deal, we'll give you Lowery and you give us Giddens who we are also both recruiting. I'm sure the other schools recruiting them would stand aside. LOL

Thanks for the kind words.
