I guess we will see how they match up against a BE team. I think that if the BE is going to add football team(s), that they should add from within the conference i.e. Georgetown or Villanova. To add another full member at this point would only hurt the league. What is everyone else's opinion on whether to add from out of conference(FULL member) or within conference? Obviously Nova and G'town do not have BE facilities but they could build them. 2007 Football SeasonDate Opponent / Event Location Time / Result09/01/07 at Maryland College Park, Md. Syracuse has great tradition, even won a nat champ. The problem is bad recruiting and coaching by the last 2 Cuse regimes and great recruiting/decent coaching by Rutgers recently. They compete directly against each other for recruits.

Add in that Syracuse has given up recruiting Florida per G.Rob it makes it tough on them.

Villanova - no way. G'town - no way. Marshall and/or Navy are best prospects.
Guest
Unfortunately, Georgetown and Villanova are the best prospects, even if they are not the best football teams. They may have been asked (although I have not seen anything to that effect) and declined. The Big East might have to provide some additional financial incentives...If it's not Georgetown or Villanova, then we won't see another football program in the current 16-member Big East conference. For the 8 schools not playing football in the Big East, they won't want to see any changes. They won't approve a football-only members. They won't approve adding a 17th full member. We really only have two choices: 1) Split the Big East (and lose all the TV revenue from the basketball contract) or2) Get Georgetown and/or Villanova to become an FBS program by providing some financial incentives. The question will be, what would it be worth to the 8 football playing teams to have the stability of 4 home and 4 road conference games every year? There might be one last option sometime in 2040:3) Notre Dame's drawing power drops, then NBC decides not to renew its contract, the BCS conferences decide not to give Notre Dame a special clause... so the Irish decide they need to join a conference: The Big Ten. In that case, the Big East would have a slot for a full-time member...
