The only one that benifits here is Notre Dame.  U Conn will have NO home games and they will not take anywhere near half of the fans.  N.Y. and Boston are huge  for Notre Dame, a home away from home.  U. Conn. is like a steet walker, anything for a few bucks

************************************************************************************************

UConn and Notre Dame will begin a 10-game football series next year, according to an internal Notre Dame memo detailing future Irish schedules that was leaked to Internet websites.

The first meeting would be Nov. 21, 2009 in South Bend, Ind. The Fighting Irish would also host the Huskies in 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018.

According to the memo, the Irish would not come to Rentschler Field in East Hartford. UConn's "home" games would be at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., in 2013, 2017 and 2020 and at the new Meadowlands stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in 2015 and 2019.

Notre Dame spokesman John Heisler confirmed the existence of the memo, but called it a "working document" subject to change on almost a daily basis.

"If these [games] were done, we'd announce them," Heisler told the Chicago Tribune. "Slowly but surely, we're trying to get them nailed down. They've all got their details that have to get worked out."

As for UConn, "They're waiting for us to send them a contract so they can get it going from their end," Heisler said.

Said UConn spokesman Mike Enright: "We don't confirm any athletic contests until there is a signed contract and there is no signed contract with Notre Dame to play football."

Notre Dame is a member of the Big East in all sports except football, in which it is one of four Division I-A independents.

Three years ago, Notre Dame announced it would play three Big East schools a year starting in 2011. It also announced it would play seven

UConn could have given a simple no. But they didn't, I see no fault here by ND.

No fault for N.D. but it continues to allow Notre Dame to do as they please with BIG EAST schools.  They will not join the Conf. but will cherry pick them for their advantage to appease the BIG EAST Conf. by playing enough games (football) to stay in other sports.  They will not play games at the BIG EAST teams HOME FIELD.  I was corrected on the Louisville deal that was offered.  Notre Dame would get one home game at their home field the return would be at Indianapolis at the COLTS field.  Now N.D. is about 50 miles to Indi. and Louisville is 120+ from Indi.  That is not the CARDS home field.  This is what Louisville is fighting, apparently alone.  As long as the schools in the BIG EAST book Notre Dame on their terms, they will never join the Conference. WHY SHOULD THEY?

Keep in mind that Rentschler only holds about 40,000 people.

The size of the stadium should have nothing to do with giving a school a home game.  They will be on TV and will get income from that.

Why shouldn't it. ND is a surefire sellout and this agreement is no differen than that given to Navy.

BE teams might be good on the field, but most the conference I'd dirt poor when compared to other BCS schools. 65000 in Boston means a lot o money for UConn. Which is why the deal is done

In many cases the size of the stadium is all that matters.  Being on TV, ins't new to Notre Dame.  They are looking for revenue every which way they can.

So now it is just screw the home town fans, that have bought season tickets to see THEIR team play at home, just be as money hungry as you want to be or can get away with.  You people and your attitudes is the reason this type of thing is happening and it is DISGRACEFUL.

Once again. The schools ok'd it, Notre Dame forced nthing. The mere fact that it is a 10 year contract only reenforces this point of view.

Also, Several UConn alum live in Boston and NYC.

Finally, It's not like they're playing on Mars. Boston is less than 2 hours away, Nyc is a little over 2 hours away. The majority of Major programs' fans in this country drive that far for mos home games
