Pupello & Sinclair Join Football Program

Release: 01/08/2008

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida football team announced the additions of Trent Pupello (Tampa, Fla.) and Charlton Sinclair (Jacksonville, Fla.) to the active roster for the spring semester.

“We are excited about both of them,†said USF head coach Jim Leavitt. “We are not sure where we will play Trent, but we’ll find a spot for him.  It could be on the defensive line or at tight end.  Charlton will play at safety and is a very promising addition to our program.â€Â

Tight end and former Jefferson high school product Trent Pupello joins USF after spending his  redshirt and freshman seasons at the University of Florida.  Pupello will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Pupello, who did not receive playing time at UF this fall, played for current USF offensive line coach Mike Simmonds during his high school days at Jefferson.

“Trent brings a great work ethic and hard-nosed brand of football to USF,†said Simmonds. “He plays the game the right way, the USF way, and will help bolster our talent level.â€Â

Pupello was a two-way player at Jefferson.  He ranked in the top-40 of the 2006 Rivals.com Florida Top 100 prospects list and was rated No. 17 at his position nationally. He also had 10 sacks as a junior and led the Dragons to the Class 3A state championship game, Jefferson’s second title game appearance in three years

Pupello is under scholarship and enrolled in classes at the start of the spring semester.

Sinclair signed a National Letter of Intent with USF in February of 2007 and is enrolled in classes for the 2008 spring semester.  Sinclair will be a freshman during the 2008 season and is projected as a defensive back.

He played at Jacksonville’s Mandarin high school where he racked up 90 tackles and five sacks during his senior season.  The 5-11, 190 pound product was a Florida Times Union Super 11 and Super 24 pick.  He was ranked 76th nationally at DB by Scout.com.

Wow...Pupello...nice hair  ;D.  Wonder if he will be treated like a newbie and get it buzzed off.  If you haven't seen his picture go to gousfbulls.com.  At first all I saw was hair and that I was on one of the women's sites.

WHY DO we need a tight end?

depth.

Ced is gonna be a factor next season as a senior, and i believe Busbee has done his thing thus far.

but when Ced graduates, Busbee and Pupello will be it.

altho i've read about R. Kelly getting some reps at TE as well.

always good to have talent regardless.
