I think these conference affiliations are killing the ability of the bowl committees to put together interesting matchups. Plus, traveling fans don't want to go to the same place every few years. I think the variety of the old bowl selection system was better. I doubt we can do anything about it though. Maybe they'll "see the light" at the next round of contract negotiations. If you're not a BCS bowl, you may be better off to keep your options open.

So theres 32 bowls: Tier 1: NC game, Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, OrangeTier 2: Sun, Outback, Gator, Peach (Chik-fil-a), Capital One, CottonTier 3: Insight, Music City, Liberty, Humanitarian, Alamo, MeinikeTier 4: Emerald, Texas, Champs Sports, Holiday, Motor City, Hawaii, Las VegasTier 5: New Mexico, Papa Johns, New Orleans, San Diego, Gmac, InternationalEach tier could have a commitee and decide on the best potential match-up, travel arrangments etc... There might be a need to trade around tradition with location.... either way this would be my ideal bowl system. Theres probably even a way to work in a minimum bowl slots for conference, and the rules like a 6-6 Bama cant get selected over a 7-5 Rutgers. Too much tradition lost, like the Rose Bowl being PAC10-Big 10(+1).

And other than the Rose Bowl, there is not another bowl that Conference vs Conference has an historic signifigance.

Think of all the top 5 teams we had this year, Crazy.
