Wanted to find out which hotel the Big East team stays at.  So we called the Sun Bowl Comm.  I asked the guy that answered about the chances of USF.  Told me the Director was just walking in and put him on the phone with me.  A guy named Bernie, didn't catch his last name.  He said that they are meeting tonight and that it looked good for us (USF).  Gave me the line about choosing the top rated (BCS) team.  But he also mentioned how Cinci beat us.  I told him to remember that we beat Auburn and WV.  He said he was here for WV game.  There is a toll free number for the Sun Bowl Comm.  That is (800) 915- BOWL (2695).  Don't know if more calls will help, but I told him we wanted to make reservations asap.

They are meeting at 5:00 mountain time so we won't know until later tonight. 

Nice guy.  I'm sure he'll be fielding calls all day and don't know if anyone else can get to him directly.  Worth a try.

The hotel they told me was the Radisson Suite at the airport.  Could not book any rooms so it sounds like the whole place is reserved for the team.  Don't know if Bulls Club/ Alumni get rooms there.  We already have reservations in Las Cruces but would rather be with a big group of Bulls Fans.

Bernie & I are tight as well, just spoke with him, real nice guy, I just re-confirmed they were meeting at 5pm to solidify our bid & he laughed. Folks, book your tickets to El Paso it looks real good!!!!!

from the tone of that conversation it sounds like they are not entirely sold on usf and would have prefered cincy if it wasnt for the bcs thing...

i dont get the impression that the sun bowl is "excited" over usf...

I didn't get that impression in speaking with him.  I think they just want to cover all their bases.  He was very impressed with the WV game.
