long tradition at usf

We're back from a very long weekend of play. A couple of things to keep in mind here. It's a preseason tournament and has no bearing on the season which starts in January. We had a good number of rookies playing in their first ever tournament. It's the first tournament we've played in 6 months. So with that said, we went 4-4. 0-4 on Saturday and 4-0 on Sunday, finishing 13th out of 17 teams. It is a little dissapointing, but we took it with a big lump of salt. Our rookies are going to be great. They learned alot this weekend and it showed by Sunday afternoon. Our offense struggled to find it's groove, especially missing several people, but we eventually found it. Our defense is our strength, especially on zone, which carried us throught the tournament. Our biggest problem this weekend was red-zone offense. Sounds like a football report, but redzone is just as important in ultimate. For example, in one of our games we had 13 trips in the red-zone, and only came away with 3 points. You can guess the result. We also we're playing without any conditioning, which showed toward the end of games.

Anyhow, we're fired up now. Ready to start the hard training. Hopefully bring home some hardware like last year, and make it to Regionals.
