Bowden and Borkowski

Never heard this before:

Now, perhaps the biggie: Connecticut 22-15 over South Florida.

South Florida, having a marvelous year since football came here in no small part for the midway support of President Frank Borkowski, and despite the objections of Charley Reed and Bobby Bowden. Bowden once gave Borkowski a football, which is on display at South Florida on which he wrote: ‘’President Borkowski, we don’t need more football in Florida.’’ Borkowski gave the ball with that inscription to USF. Borkowski now is in North Carolina, loving it and pulling for the Bulls for which he is much responsible. Right man, right time, then, here.

where in North Carolina is Borkowski?  Would love to met him and give him the Go Bulls symbol.

After leaving USF, Borkowski became the President of Appalachian State University in Boone (yes, the Wolverine-slayers).  He stepped down from the presidency a few years ago and is now back on the App St faculty teaching music.
