Seriously, we left 27 points on the field at the UConn game:

1. 2 missed FG's

2. "Holding" call in endzone

3. Dropped ball in endzone

4. INT for a touchback

5. UNABLE TO CONVERT POINTS ON TO's!!!

6. UConn putting up 6 on an INT

Don't forget the safety where our boy missed the ball for a TD.  2 and 3 are really the same "points"

My bad, you are correct. I couldn't remember where that other 7 points came in....The Safety that could have been a TO in the endzone is what it was.

I think he is giving Alvarado a chance and having faith in him.  That said, after these two games...  I wonder what his playcalling on 4th down will be for the rest of the season.  It will be interesting to see.

Did you see any changes by CJL after Delbert missed 4 field goals in the Auburn game?

Evvvvvvvvvvery time we line up to punt on 4th and short, I ALWAYS remember the direct snap to Kawika Mitchell where he went up the middle for a 56 yard TD!! That was BEAUTIFUL!!  Still one of my all-time favorite Leavitt calls - and Bulls plays!  ;D

I'd love to see more of that!  I'm all for Delbert punting.  I remember watching him warming up during halftime last season and wondering WHY we were sticking w/ the rugby crap.  Teachy has been great on kick-off duty this year - Delbert has been doing really good on punts (some bad ones that sailed thru the endzone the past couple games.. but)...    Just need to get him sorted out on FGs...  He's got the leg - just the aim needs to be corrected...  When we get those 20 yard shots from the hashmark - that's when I know we're in trouble...  :P

I heard a quote a while ago, I forget who said it, but it is so true.

"Every time you kick a field goal, you are that much closer to losing."

Championship defenses are built on bending and giving up field goals but not giving up touchdowns.  Conversely, offenses who sputter in the red zone and settle for field goals (especially when they have a kicker like we do) are not playing to win.

You play to win the game (Herm Edwards)
