I wish him a speedy recovery even if he decided to go to UM.

Wow. I hope he's alright.

He was at USF yesterday afternoon watching Plant in USF's 7 on 7 tourney. He must have been on his way back to Miami.

The silver lining in this cloud is that this just may scare him straight.  Seems like a good kid anyway, but this might just keep in that standing.

He was asleep in the back seat with his seat belt on. The driver fell asleep, with no alcohol involved ... What exactly should this scare him straight away from?

How about making a better choice about who to give his car keys to?  The guy was charged with careless driving, right?  I don't want to assume too much like maybe they were up way too late (or didn't sleep at all) and Marve was too sleepy and the other guy decided he wasn't (when he was).  Again, I'm just assuming and could certainly be wrong about the specifics.  I was just posting to say in a wierd way this could be very good for Marve in that he will have many choices to make and some may seem harmless, but he needs to be careful in who's hands he puts himself in.  This was a (relatively) painless way to learn that lesson.

You can cut off both of my legs at the knees and I can still hold my job - guys like Marve (and JR Reid) need to be extra careful to take care of themselves to be sure they can enjoy the benefits of what they've worked so hard for.

I see where you're coming from now. "Scared straight" was probably not the best choice of words in that situation, then ....

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
