Ari...(thats gotta be you)...Larranaga received a $400k contract last year and turned down several jobs (Arizona State, NC State) to stay there. Those schools have a lot more in the way of talent base, funding, and facilities. Why the HELL would he leave to make a similar salary here.

I don't know who ari is.

It's not like George Mason is the promise land.

Just a thought.

Like I said he ignored offers from NC State and Arizona State, both have more money invested into their porgram, and in the case of NC State a much better facilities.

He's got it at GMU, life tenure, a great recruiting base (Washington, DC), and GMU's basketball facilities are under a $10M+ upgrade.

Just to add, how many Final 4's have USF been to compared to George Mason? (They've played very similar lengths of time)

I think people need to understand that we probably aren't going to bring in a huge name or the hottest coach out there because we don't have the money to invest in the program that others do.

we need steady progress until the BE money (5YRS) can be invested in bball, we have greater needs right now IMO.

so we should stick with mac one more year, get a solid mid major coach who can recruit and has high energy, so he does not leave an empty cupboard if he does not pan out.

I'm going to the Richmond Coliseum tonight to watch the CAA Championship Game, pitting Larranaga against VCU and Coach Anthony Grant.

I still say we should make a serious run at Grant, the CAA's Coach Of The Year.

If we make a change, he'd be a great on to go after. Still not sure we'd be that attractive to him.
