MY ALABAMA PLATE PROUDLY  READS     USFBULL

I am jealous.  In Florida you can't get that many letters/numbers on a USF plate.       :'(

are they still offering the "free" upgrade to USF plates for the first year.  I had a coupon for the $25 refund, but it expired before I needed to renew.

Indeed they are!

I attend a small private school in Melbourne (Florida Tech) for graduate studies.  When I arrived on campus today I noticed a small number of prime student parking spots have been painted red with signs saying "Parking For Vehicles With Panther Plates Only".

I was wondering if anyone thought this was a good idea to encourage USF license plate purchases.

Man, thread hijacked by useless stats again.   ::) I like the above idea.

Not hijacking it Moises, I think sales have gone very well for the plates, while having a sign like that on campus may increase sales a bit, parking is a premium to begin with and USF needs to squeeze all they can out of parking passes.

Sorry should have made that clear.

That's the whole point of the system, if there was parking everywhere then having special spots for cars with USF LPs would be useless.

My point was the fact that the USF LP is $70 bucks, a parking pass is about 160 bucks for a year. Why would USF take away already waitlisted spots to get a few people to buy a LP and then lose money because of the loss of those spots?

The LP sales are going well enough to not need to resort to those tactics. If we were stagnant I can could see it, but not right now.

I personally find the USF license plates to be ugly.

I may be mistaken but I don't think this is about giving them free parking. I believe it's just to have a few reserved, prime parking locations for those with the license plates AND a parking pass...
