Newsome’s Hine back on recuiting wagon

Posted February 08, 2007 by Nick Williams

Updated Feb 08, 2007 at 04:54 PM

The evening before National Signing Day, Newsome offensive lineman Chaz Hine was content with the idea he wouldn’t be among the dozens of players from around Hillsborough County signing letters on intent.

Though he received a scholarship offer from Charleston Southern, he decided to walk-on at South Florida.

Tuesday night, however, his phone rang off the hook.

Florida Atlantic and Southern Illinois, both of which invited Hine for an official visit but did not offer a scholarship, along with Florida International and Arkansas State, have contacted the 6-foot-4, 300 pound lineman.

“As of now, I’m still going to USF, but that may change in the next couple of days.â€Â

I saw him at RJS for quite a few of our games and I was very persuasive in trying to get him to come here.  He is freaking huge, I'd kill for his size.

why did other D1a not offer?

footwork?

speed?

if he walks on and excels that will be great.

he will be motivated to excel.

hope he does well

I thought I saw something in the Trib a few days ago about a Plant lineman that was going to turn down some schollies to walk on at USF.

Does any one know the difference between a preferred walk on and just a walk on?
