I heard CJL talk about this on his radio show this past season. I think this tryout is where he found Ean Randolph and Devin Gordon this past year. IIRC, he said there is about 70-80 guys who tryout and the team brings about 3 to spring practice and maybe 1 or 2 guys makes it to fall.

Jeez, maybe I should try out too with all the "tryouts" that are going to happen on this board.  I'm 6'0" 190.  I just need to...um... get my 40 yard time down from 4.8 to 4.3.  That's possible, right?  ::)

The other alternative is to put on 35-40 pounds of mostly muscle while "only" dropping my 40 time to 4.6.  Cake.

If you just add 70 pounds without getting any slower you could just be a blocking tight end.   ;)

The team needs some new tackling dummies, so there are several people on this board that I'd love to see volunteer for those roles.  You know who you are... ;D

So i'm assuming to make the team even as just a walk-on, practice dummy type,  you would need to be a pretty solid athlete and player, right?

yes and its not easy...... I walked on my freshman yaer at FAU and it was the hardest thing I ever did in my life. The speed at the College level is 10x's what I saw in HS. and this was a 2nd year FAU team.

there were some guys that weren't that athletic ( i was one) but if you give it all you got and serve some purpose Coaches keep u around. You wont get in a game though. Most ppl end up quiting.
