With Matt Grothe in the number one position, I can understand Marve looking at UM where he has the possibility of being the starting QB, or any other program.

Yes it would be nice to have him in our stable, but I really didn't expect it.

I was at a dinner this weekend and a person there is very involved in Plant athletics (this is before the UM visit this weekend) was there. this person said marve was a lock for UM because his dad wants him to play there, he'll get loads of playing time with the program, and he likes the city.  USF was "nowhere in the picture, no chance" was what our chances were given.  Seems his remarks after the visit echo what I heard.

Can you imagine if we didn't have him and we were even on Marve's radar, and then he didn't pick us?

USF had his interest for a bit, but Miami jumped in hard after Shula was fired, killing any chances we had.

Not a big deal Matt still as 3 more years, which gives us 2 to find a replacement or 3 if we find someone who can start right away.

This probably seals the deal on Marve;  Nick Fanuzzi, who was committed to Miami, commits to Alabama, where Marve was previously committed.
