Have we or are we working on any good kickers/punters.  I don't seem to recall having one that's very good. No offense to Teachy on Kickoffs, but I'm more concered with field goals.  Are they planning on Alverado getting better and sticking with the rugby punts?

USF has offered one of the best kickers in the state in P'cola...

Yeah, I saw that on espn, but to me espn's recruiting means nothing.

Alvarado to me should get a shot next year at PK.

Its the punting that is in such bad shape.

I was ok with the Rugby punt, sometimes you get monster punts.  It was the low FG percentage that really bothered me.  When you are forced to have your QB pooch punt on the opponent 25 because you cant trust your kicker that a problem.

Matt Eller from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, ranked 15th in the country has shown interest in USF.

We need Teachey, who else will run for two big first downs on fake punts like he did versus Pitt.  I'm not sure we win that game without those two plays.

Actually, the rugby style can be the best kick - as long as the other team doesn't catch on to it.  If those kinds of kicks catch the right bounce, you're looking at an easy 50+ yard punt.  However, without that bounce, it would be 30-40 yards tops.  The other trouble is our formation: it is WAY to spread out to fully protect the punter, which resulted in blocks a la UCF game.

Justin Teachey had 45 punts this year for a total of 1718 yards.  That's 38.17 yards per punt (net gain mind you), which is far from horrible.  In fact, without stats in my hand, I'd say that was fairly average.

But yet, I would love to not have to pray to the football gods every time we have a fourth down as well.  ::)
