FSU's Holmes to transfer to USF

Former St. Pete Catholic star Aaron Holmes has accepted a scholarship offer and will transfer from Florida State to USF, starting spring classes next week, the  Times' Joe Smith reports.

Holmes will have to sit out this season and the first month or so of next season, but he'll have a chance to help the Bulls at small forward while providing additional depth at shooting guard. He'll join signee Dominique Jones of Lake Wales and redshirting freshman Donte Curry as freshmen on next year's squad. More to come ...

nahhhhh, this kid was the real deal last  year around here.  if he comes straight to usf, we'd be saying he's about the best recruit ever....notwithstanding we use the Statue of Liberty recruiting method, this is still HUGE for usf!!

He'll be eligible in mid-December 2007, like Verdejo and Gransberry were last month. He can play as soon as fall exams are over.

jesus is our most accomplished player on this team.  he is in his 5th game and would be playing more if his defense was better.  

dont compare this guy to jesus.  they are two different players.  holmes is a straight run and gun guy.

Jesus is also a bit hobbled... the reason he isn't getting minutes isn't completely defense, because his defense actually hasn't been horrible... but the last game or two, he's been a step slower, so mac is letting him rest his feet.  We need him out there... he is probably the most talented offensive player we have... but if he is slowed by an injury, you can't put a heavy load on him until his feet can take it.
