  1. From Greg's Blog. Seems like we are picking up everyones bench squad. ---- FSU's Holmes to transfer to USF Former St. Pete Catholic star Aaron Holmes has accepted a scholarship offer and will transfer from Florida State to USF, starting spring classes next week, the Times' Joe Smith reports. Holmes will have to sit out this season and the first month or so of next season, but he'll have a chance to help the Bulls at small forward while providing additional depth at shooting guard. He'll join signee Dominique Jones of Lake Wales and redshirting freshman Donte Curry as freshmen on next year's squad. More to come ...
  2. Yeah -- i see it coming far sooner then people think. Some donor is going to pony up some big funds to put his name on that thing. "Build it and they will come."
  3. Low turnout because we play in a stadium that is 10 times to big for the program. You go to the games and it feels like you are at the high school state championships. I was talking to Reuben last night about this.  I actually enjoy the game more on TV then Ray Jay. That place might be the worst environment in college football.  The place is to spread out.  The announce screams "Lets hear it for the Bull DEEEFENSE." The place sounds like a barnyard rodeo. Half the **** students don't even watch the game -- they sit in the south endzone and drink beers and hunt for tail. The place stinks.  It's to big.  It wasn't meant fo college football. But on a positive note.  WAY more people come now then when I was a student in 2001-02. USF needs an on-campus stadium.. There is no environment in the country like the Swamp on an SEC Conference weekend. Another complaint is that the tailgate stinks. Cops bust everyone under age -- and nobody really goes. Plus -- in the past, the schedule has stunk.  It has improved dramatically over the past year or two. Next year we will probably have the best home schedule ever UNC West VA Louisville
  4. in three years this guy has won seven conference games and everyone just thinks mac is going to roll with all the "new" talent. Why is USF an attractive job? Because you get to coach in the Big East Conference.  Probably the most televised and high profile basketball conference in the country.  You get to coach against Boehiem, Petino, Calhoun.  You get to play against storied programs like Seton Hall, St. Johns, Georgetown. You get to live in the state of Florida. And the next coaches salary won't be in the gutter. And Va Tech is a bottom feeder job??? Greenberg left because he had little support among the fans and boosters. His days were numbered - so he jumped ship. Before Mac -- i think we only had 2 coaches in 13 years or so.
  5. Wildrover.... The Darksiders Happy Hour will be in January at the Beef O' Bradys in Wesley Chapel. Welcome aboard my friend.
  6. It will be cool to see everyone play each other every year.  Although this will not help everyones record. I can't imagine 18 of your 30 games being in the big east - talk about a tough schedule. good stuff for future games in the Sun Dome.. ------ "This will be the last season that all Big East teams don't play each other at least once. The league is moving to an 18-game league schedule next season … Connecticut's 7-foot-2 freshman HaSheem Thabeet was recently ruled eligible by the NCAA Clearinghouse and could start immediately … Georgetown freshman guard Jeremiah Rivers is the son of Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers …. Indiana transfer Patrick Ewing, Jr., the son of the former Georgetown and NBA star, is eligible for Georgetown after sitting out a full season … Louisville freshman center Derrick Caracter has dropped more than 40 pounds and is down to 275 ... Syracuse will not leave the state of New York until Jan. 7 when it makes a road trip to Marquette … UConn freshman Stanley Robinson and Georgetown freshman DaJuan Summers each helped the United States win a gold medal in the FIBA U-18 Championships in San Antonio in July …. Connecticut is attempting to stretch its remarkable record of leading the nation in blocks to six consecutive seasons … This will be the 25th year the Big East holds its postseason tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It is the longest running tournament at one venue."
  7. And how can the AP Top 25 be totally irrelevent..... Aren't you a big believer in the RPI...???
  8. I think that South Florida is a very very very attractive job. One that would bring any coach from a solid mid major school. Do I think we could hire away Gary Williams. No. If you look at our thread we congratualted Mac on a fine win. We did not disparage. But my fellow bull fans on this board preached that we played a "tough" out of conference schedule. As a member of the darksiders i wanted to make sure that comment did not go un-checked. I think the one common denominator among the group is our desire to win. I think the way in which we reach that goal is where the difference lyes. I, speaking for myself only, don't think that firing mac would be a good move now. If we would have lost to wake and bcc, I would have endorsed the hanging. We didn't. Mac needs to win 5 conference games to keep his job. My guy tells me Woolard wants to move on.
  9. somebody has to keep the "everything is fantastic" crowd in check. it might as well be me. happy new year mike.
  10. You guys will defend anything that has gone on in this program. The darksiders don't understand this. YOu think we are the irrational ones. Do you think that this record of accomplishment would be tolarated at any other major university in the country? I think that his the difference between you and us. You surely can't say we don't support USF athletics.....nobody is a bigger supporter of the football program then us. Who was defending Rod Smith during the days you guys wanted to hang him? The darksiders. So don't give us the patience stuff. We lost 4 straight games to Texas AM Corpus Cristi, UNLV, Missouri State, UAB... We thought that was pathetic. Maybe an over exageration on our part, but you guys defended the loses by inferring they were tough opponents. We just wanted to offer a counter view point..
  11. You keep refering to RPI's like they carry some enormous weight this early in the season. Conference play hasn't even started. Does anyone want to put a nice wager on Mizzou State making it as at-large bid??????? Spare me the Mizzou State is a lock for the tournament. They beat Wisconsin.. one win doesn't get you in the tournament. They are part of the crazed MVC phenomenon.. As for UAB...they don't even recieve votes in the AP poll. And who have they beaten? Maybe Cinci.. but that is about it. We haven't lost to a ranked team all year. I repeat, not one of the teams we lost to is ranked, only one of the teams even recieve votes in the top 25.. Determined to keep the board honest.
  12. UAB lost to Washington State, Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwealth. There only quality win all season might be Cincinatti and Minnessota. They beat Big East bottom feeder Depaul in two overtimes.. Thier other quality wins were against Radford - Winston Salem State - UW- Milwaukee. My life mission is to keep this board honest. Just stop with the "green and gold" rhetoric. Mac needs to win 5 games in the conference this year. A Big East Conference that is clearly having a rebuliding year by the way. If there is a year to win five games it is this year. Cuse is down, Providence is awful, Depaul and Rutgers are in bad shape, Louisville hasn't looked impressive. This is the year were it shoudln't be much of a problem.
  13. The darksiders just think it is funny how the "green and gold-ies" will simply rationalize EVERYTHING! UAB is 8-5.  Richmond lost to Radford College.  Wake will probably end up being the worst team in the ACC. You guys act like we are losing to Duke, Maryland, UCLA and Ohio State. None of the teams we lost to are ranked or have been ranked. Mizzou State got blown out by Creighton the other night.  Also bring to your attention the darksiders strong support for CJL. A guy who shows constant progress and continues to move the program forward.
  14. Just remember. we need 4 or 5 wins to make the conference tourny. If we make it. I think he deserves to keep his job. I will leave it at that.
