now i love the bulls and grothe is the man, but this is a little too mature.  grothe will have a legit shot i think in his jr or sr year but there are a lot of other guys that arent on this list that i think would get it before Grothe.

to win as a QB you really have to put up some insane numbers.

He'll have to improve on those INTs (14 is way too many).  Rezz is right, those QBs have to put up huge numbers.  Has a sophomore ever won the Heisman??

Personally, I don't think he does enough of either passing or running to be considered.  He does both well, but normally you'd need to really put up huge numbers in one of those categories.  Basically he'll be competing with Pat White in the Big East.  They are similar QBs and put up similar numbers.  If he can get the upper hand on White, than you take a look at his numbers versus the rest of the country.  Its nice pub though.

grothe must:

1. win a lot 9-3 or better, with 2-3 "big" wins where he plays lights out AUB, UL and/or WVU (pitt)

2. get 50% more passing TD's 20+

3. get 50% less INT's 7 or less

4. pass for 25% more yds 3000+

these are all very possible if he does the normal improvement from FR to SO

and we get better Oline, RB and WR play

we have all the parts in place to make this happen

of course playcalling will be the glue that ties this all together

and i do not trust Rod Smith to make it happen.

I will be happy to be wrong about this!

if grothe is in the heisman race even as a dark horse late in the season that would be sweet.

i hope this happens for usf.
