At this time the count seems to be 22, but there could be 1-2 more departures as well.  Expect us to again sign as many as 27 players our staff is even talking to some recruits to grey shirt and come and enroll in the spring.  We'll probably take a little flack again for signing a few that won't be eligible right away, but since McCaskill, Warren, and Fonua have received their eligibility clearance, and with Spires returning after being sent to JC it appears our staff is getting the last laugh.  They have the clear vision and are signing guys that may not be eligible right away but will find their way on campus.  A brilliant strategy.

I hope that players that don't qualify right away continue to come back to USF when they are eligible.  I think that is a great strategy andhelps out the guys to send them to JC.

Clearly the staff is focusing on character kids and kids with solid academics this year. There are exceptions on the academics but overall it is clear staff is getting better academics this year. Probably because they can with the improved reception we are receiving.

Leavitt was telling me he had 23 available before the season, and he's lost Chambers since then, so I have him with at least 24. Some of those might go toward giving walk-ons like Ben Williams or Justin Teachey scholarships.
