I really am surprised about the lack in student numbers as well. They have the Bull Runner going there and back on Saturday's for students who don't have a car. I think the problem is commuter students don't want to travel up to the stadium from places like Brandon, Riverview, Lakeland, ect ect. I think those numbers are a bit strange. I left for the FIU game real late (almost 6) and there weren't many cars anywhere around campus, especialy the resident parking lots.  I'm not saying all those people went to the game, but I'm sure many did.  I think throughout the week on campus there should be more signs promoting the weekend home games like they do with the basketball games.

This is why you need an on-campus stadium.  It will bring several more thousand students to the game I would suspect. Unless there is just apathy from most of the student body.  You will have a huge jump in attendance just from visiting teams that travel well coming to town.  You'll be around 40k again next year.

Several thousand more students would do nothing for the bottom line...students get in FREE....besides there isn't any proof that more students would attend games if the stadium was OC...USF needs to increase  season ticket sales (substantially) every year...something that just isn't happening and until we do it doesn't make fiscal sense to build an OCS.

Initally, season ticket wise...that is true...however if its an on-campus stadium...USF would earn $$$$ of all the concessions, parking, merchandise, etc...that students would spend.

Also, getting MORE students (thousands more) to attend games while STILL in school...percentage wise...they are more likely to purchase season tickets AFTER graduation...vs those 30,000 plus other students who do not attend sporting events.

Student Attendance is an INVESTMENT for the future for every school...especially schools like UCF and USF...that have thousands and thousands of unsold season tix...waiting for more and more students who are HOOKED on their teams to BUY season tix after they graduate.

That's the huge pay-off for higher student attendance.

PS. plus, if students ever helped out selling out your on-campus stadium...the school can SELL football tickets to STUDENTS...like most BCS Schools do...which helps bring in more $$$$$.

FYI...there was a famous study/report by SI over 15 years ago that showed that the chances of a school to sell sporting events tix to alumni who did NOT attend games as a student, is very, very, low.

It was the Alumni that WENT to sporting events at their favorite school AS a student..who were the highest percentage of season tix buyers for top sports like Football & Basketball. (Also showed that Greeks, Students that lived on campus/involved with campus groups/clubs, etc...bought sporting event tix as an alumni at a higher level then those that did not.

No offense, upperdeck, but your fellow CUSA fans have attempted to belittle USF for "having a superiority complex" for believing that they deserve nothing but 1 for 1 contracts.  If USF is belittled for it, how does that apply to a non-BCS ECU team?

Mike, I've been reading this board the past couple of weeks, and I haven't seen any comments like that.  Maybe they have been posted earlier from fans of other CUSA schools.  Personally, while I have detected a "superiority complex" by some USF posters, I don't hold it against any school trying to get 1-for-1 contracts.

Students, already pay to park on campus, you can't charge them twice for that.....Students would have to spend a hell of a lot on concessions (only 6 games/season)to make up the for the debt incurred by building the stadium...The university get it's cut from Bulls merchandise sold at the RJ.

Also, getting MORE students (thousands more) to attend games while STILL in school...percentage wise...they are more likely to purchase season tickets AFTER graduation...vs those 30,000 plus other students who do not attend sporting events.

There isn't any evidence to suggest that thousands of more students would attend games just because the stadium was on campus...the RJ isn't far from campus and free bus service is provided.  An OCS is going to attract those 30,000 students if they aren't interested in football.  The Sundome is on campus and it doesn't attract many of those very same students that you speak of.

Sure there is, however building an OCS is not the answer...not when we have the RJ close by and rent it for a mere pittance compared to the cost of building, operating and maintaining an OCS.

Wrong, USF students pay for tickets now (Student fees) whether or not if they choose not to go to games...again you can't charge then twice for the same thing.

Did that "famous study" also conclude that 10's of thousands of more students would attend a football game at an OCS rather than those played in one of the finast state of the art football stadiums in the country just a few miles away?

Yes...as evidence by USF having less than 4,800 students showing up on average to watch an 8-4 BCS Bowl Team that plays in one finest state of the art stadiums in the country this year.

Next question?

Next question would be, why do you have so many posts on our board?  UCF must not even have a mediocre message board, let alone athletic program.  Maybe its because you have no one to talk to over there since the tinmen gave up on O'Liar halfway thru the year.

Next question?

How could your famous study which you stated was done more than 15 years ago have included USF since USF has only been playing football for 10 seasons?

Please post the part of that study that says student attendance at football would be increased by tens of thousands of students if the games were played in an OCS rather than a state of the art NFL football stadium?

Was UCF included in that study as an example of how not to grow a football program?

What was the actual average attendance of UCF students at home football game for the 2006 season?

How many tons of trash (average/game) was left lying scattered about  the parking lots near the Citrus Bowl by UCF students?

Get out of the UCF game ?  Its a "W" every year but does hurt our SOS.  I doubt many UCF fans will be coming to USF next year.  First year they thought they had a chance.  By now they should know better.  a better opponet would be ECU or USM,  they seem to have much better teams.

Get your AD to call Terry Holland...a series would be good ...just no 1 here and 2 there stuff...we are through with that.

No offense, upperdeck, but your fellow CUSA fans have attempted to belittle USF for "having a superiority complex" for believing that they deserve nothing but 1 for 1 contracts.  If USF is belittled for it, how does that apply to a non-BCS ECU team?

Mike...It really only has to do with money....We used to go and play UNC,SC,NCST and others in 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deals because the payday was better for us away than home...The dollar loss gap has closed significantly and we really dont need that income today...We can play ...and will next year both NC and NCSU and will draw 50+ at home...now we couldnt do that with USF but certainly we would seat close to 40k....I really cant speak for the rest of CDOA....but a series with USF that isnt home and home would not make sense for ECU financially...since we have better attendance than USF.  Thats not a slam on USF...Your program is growing very quickly and USF has done wonders...It is taking time to get the people on board with your program..I see USF in 10years drawing 40 to 50K....good luck in BMH

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
