Danny Verpale was a frosh all american as well. He was after Nicholas.

I'm sure Grothe's rushing was considered, these days the multi purpose QBs rushing is a big part of the game.

I really think that the only reason Colt McCoy took the honors over Matt was because of the interception numbers.  

...

I also think Texas vs. USF image had a lot to do with it ... and he would have been on the ballot before the season.
