U of San Francisco dropped football in 1951

Right.........otherwise, Decody Fagg would have signed with U of San Francisco over FSU.

I laughed too.  It's not trying to offend USF, so everyone needs to stop taking it as such.  People here take things too personally.  It just means that USF is new, and unheard of outside of the local area.. and it is IRONIC that the local paper confuses it with University of San Francisco.

It's called IRONY.  It can be used as a form of comedy.  So give this whole 'rise up against the media beasts and fight the oppression of being the butt of jokes' attitude a rest already.

I read this as an insult to the people who cover college football and also as a funny way to say "USF is emerging." I certainly didn't get upset.

But then, I also don't need a pacifier when I go to sleep.

It was a column runnng down the sports on TV for the upcoming week ... The Heisman telecast is Sat., the 9th.
