I was thinking about our bowl scenarios, and ironically, I actually think we could get a WORSE bowl by winning out than by winning 1 of last 2.

Here's what I am talking about.  Let's say we beat UL, but lose to WVU.  The BE could very well get 2 BCS teams, WVU and RU, especially if Boise loses.  UL would go to Gator/Sun, we would go to Texas.

Now let's say we win BOTH remaining games.  Now it is assured the BE will only have one BCS rep because both UL and WVU would have 2 losses.  Under that scenario, RU to BCS, WVU to gator/sun, UL to Texas, USF to Birmingham.

Am I thinking about this correctly.  Of course I want us first and foremost to win out, but we might actually get a worse bowl by causing the BE to only get one BCS bid instead of 2.  Of course we would get great national pub to offset any lower tier bowl.

We're pretty much locked into Birmingham now as it is. Winning one of the last two games could better our position depending on who we beat. Louisville might have too far to go to catch up, as opposed to WVU and Rutgers not losing too much depending on who loses that game.

We could lose the last 2 and it more than likely would keep us in Birmingham. Let's just go out and try to win the last 2 regardless of where it puts us. Think of the press we would get for beating those 2 teams in back to back weeks, both on the road.

You are correct my man. If we win those last two that should put us "up" on some preseason lists for next year. The higher we start the easier it is to climb.

I agree that winning out -- regardless of where we go -- is better for USF... national publicity... national reputation... recruiting impression... etc.

However, if the unfortunate thing happens and we lose out - Louisville ha a better chance of being selected as the 2nd Big East team... if they win out, they will end up ranked higher than the WVU/RU loser.  They need some help from the SEC -- such as Arkansas beating LSU but losing to Florida... and could use some help from the Pac 10 -- but the Cardinals could still play in a BCS bowl.

Buy your Airline Tix

Yup. Even the most expensive roundtrip flight on Southwest is less than $300 per person. Lower fares are available if you book early.

Go BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
