From the BCS website

"All teams earning automatic berths must be selected. No more than two teams from any single Conference may play in BCS games in a single year, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large picks."

Just saw Alvarez on the FOX NFL post game show.  He mentioned that all of the computer polls picked RU 2nd or 3rd.  He suggested that there was something suspect with the computer rankings.

The computer rankings are the most objective rankings out there, especially if all six agree, at the very least RU is not getting the respect they deserve.  I would counter his point and suggest that the other polls are flawed not giving RU enough credit.

Its fuuny that he doesnt see anything wrong with the computers picking Wisconsin #7 eventhough they have only beaten THREE teams with winning records at 7-4,7-4 and 6-5 they didnt play OSU and their out of conference was:

Western Illinois a 1AA

San diego State 2-7

Buffalo 2-8

Bowling green 4-6

The Fox segment to announce the BCS is a waste of airtime.  Terry was arguing about USC being ranked over UF because "they" want high TV ratings for the title game.  Yeah...the coaches, writers, and computers rank them that high for the game ratings.  Geez.

Jim,

They said last night on SportsCenter that only 2 per conference is still a rule. If that were to happen we'd see that rule change next year.

Wind, That year FSU made it over Miami they lost by a FG @ Miami, not by 26 points at home like ND to Michigan. Further Miami's fan base is 1/20th Michigan's size, don't think for one minute that if ND made that game over Michigan that the hundreds of thousands of fans wouldn't be revolting.

1/20th?  really?  5 national titles, all those NFL players, but no fan base?

and who exactly would they be revolting against?  and how?  would they destroy the state of michigan?

I'm sure they would deal with it.  Losing the last game of the season does not deserve a rematch against a team that just beat you.

That is why 1 loss Wisconsin is ranked 12th and 10th in the AP and Coaches' Polls. Same reason 1 loss Wake is ranked 14th in both. SOS is definitly playing into their rankings, just as it is playing into Rutgers.

I think the computers are very screwy right now. Not because Rutgers is at 2, but because Ohio State is averaged at 3 and are ranked 5th in one poll. If there has been a team that screams number 1 this year it is OSU.

Wind, you are kidding right ?  Michigan has a huge fan base.  Turn the lights on at Ann Arbor and they get 50,000 showing up.  doesnt even need to be a game played.  Miami doesn''t even sell out half the time.  I think Michigan has the highest attended home games in college football.  100k plus.  sell outs for many years.

How can the BE not be  getting respect if there are 3 teams in the top ten in the BCS polls ?  Aren't 2/3s of poll based on human rankings ?  Also, aren't the computer programs done by humans ? ;)
