We'll see how many points USC loses when they release the new BCS ratings.  That will give you an idea of what the additional loss does to the points, and can be used as a guide looking at OSU-UM.  Also keep in mind that for either WVU or Ville to stay undefeated means that they will have to beat two ranked teams in the coming weeks.  That will solidify the hold on a number three spot in the BCS rankings, and increase their SOS in the computer segment.  Personally, I see WVU in the BCS championship game, but it is still early and anything can happen.

the 2 ranked teams have high #sos so beating them will not have the effect you would think or hope

beating rutgers#98,wv#92 pitt #84 or ul#70 will not help much.the schdule of big east teams are so bad

Incorrect.  That is not how the SOS rankings work in the BCS computer rankings.  The SOS for WVU, Ville, and Rutgers will all jump in the coming weeks as they play each other.  Cubanbull is correct in his assessment.

Where is Steve getting his SOS numbers?

According to the NCAA, Rutgers is #33 in SOS...

Sagarin, he tends to use whatever shows USC and the PAC-10 in the best light. ;)

USC fell to 9th in both polls, so now WVU is 3rd and UL is 5th, and texas has almost lost the last 2 games so they arent a lock to win out.  UL is in a great position if they win out.

I'd be quite worried if WVU played for all the marbles. They've looked barely decent against several mediocre teams this year. Sending them up against OSU or Michigan in the National Championship game would be a spanking that the Big East doesn't need right now. That goes for Louisville too, though I tend to think they're deeper as a team than the core of WVU's wonderboys.

Interesting link:

For those saying that an undefeated Big East team will not play in the championship game.  Look at these numbers.  I think it's very clear that an undefeated Big East team will have a great shot at playing for the NC.

Current

Rank      Team         Past Opp Wining %               Fut Opp Wining%

6      Florida          .69                                          .48

18      WVU              Ã‚ .44                                          Ã‚ .74

24      UL                .48                  Ã‚                          .72

Exactly, those SOS numbers for WVU, Ville, and Rutgers are going to move up over the next month.

Disagree completely.  Did you watch UM against Northwestern.  They were less than impressive.

I agree BUT the fcats are that very few power teams in BCS conferences will be willing to play WV or UL home/away.

Here are Auburn's out of conference opponents; Wash st,Buffalo,Tulane and Arkansas St ALL at home

LSU"s; Lousiana Lafayette,Arizona,Tulane and Fresno, ALL at HOME

Florida's; Southern Miss,UCF, Western Carlina and @ FSU

Michigan's; Vanderbilt, Central Michigan, Ball State, @ Notre Dame

Could someone please tell me why those bashing the big east schedules conveniently forget about the schedules that the above teams are playing.  Hmmm.  I wonder why???

I'm not sure what you mean - what do UM or Northwestern have to do with WVU playing OSU or Michigan?
