I love Grothe, but I hope he would have stayed in the game if it was close.  A bloody nose ? Put a band-aid on it.

The wind really limited his ability to stretch Cinci's D with the long ball considering Matt's arm strength is...well not a strength.  He's just much more accurate on 35-40 yd throw than PJ.

 both teams played in same weather

usf should have thrown 20 yard passes instead

Matt played a terrible game, plain and simple.  The INT turned the the game around along with the botched fake punt (because of Mompremier's missed block).

Grothe showed what he is... a Freshman.  He's bound to make some mistakes.  Chalk that one up as a learning lesson.  

It didn't help that the Offensive play calling was, well... offensive.  RS opened up the passing game way too late, and even then there wern't nearly enough short range passes and slants to exploit the constant blitz.  

The fake punt was a major turning point in the ball game, unfortunately it swung momentum the wrong way.  I think it was way too early and waaay to close to our endzone to call that play.

Don't take this wrong, I'm glad it was an Injury and He wasn't pulled for PJ, He should be Back for Pitt !!!!

Yesterday we saw the bad side of a freshmen QB. The fumble, int and generally unable to move the ball vs an aggressive blitzing defense. Matt will grow from this and become even a better QB. To be honest i was surprised he hadnt had a game like that one before.

Well, the four remaining games will be like this one.  He will be blitzed every chance they get until he shows them he can handle it.
