RB/LB Jamar Taylor had a lot of interest in USF but was never offered a scholarship.  He will be going to Alabama.

Nice Find ET.  Our staff does a great job of finding defensive talent.

From what I heard, it was a lack of prototypical LB height.  He's about 5-10 and the D staff likes rangier backers.

Every staff has a certain type of player that fits their scheme.  If our staff likes linebackers with more height than 5'10", then I can live with that.  The fact that Alabama offered him doesn't validate his ability to work in every system, just that Alabama's coaches believe he will work in theirs.

Good luck to him at Bama.  I'll take our LBs, and the coaches that make them what they are, any day of the week.

I doubt we offered because in the end Jamar committed to Bama very early, before the start of the season.  There was some geniune interest for USF from a lot of Drednaught players but in the end LSU, UF, and Bama swooped in and grabbed them this summer.

Also, Jamar Taylor to me will be a good RB. He's a between the tackles hard nosed kid.  I like him better as a college RB then Rainey who is to small and soft to play RB in college.

I also think Taylor would be a better RB than LB in college ... we are deep at LB anyways.

Didn't mean to infer that the staff was at fault for not offering just giving the information I heard.  Obviously, I am very pleased by the play of the Bulls backers.
