Band or Music Blarring

HOT needs to work on this to change the way it happens now.

Logically, bands shouldn't be around anymore.

- The musical service they provide can now be handled through sound systems and the modern rock/stage band is portable enough to come in and play a rendition of a song much easier to recognize than that of tubas and trumpets.

- They wear uniforms as if the war hasn't ended.

- They cost a LOT of money.  How many footballs or shoulder pads can a progarm buy for the cost of a band uniform that is only worn 6-7 times a year

However the reason that they are around is simple, it's not tradition, it's not pageantry, it's just fun.  

So if you have a band that can throw down a bit, have some fun and create school spirit - then have them play every down (well defensive down).

If not, it's time to go, kids.  Put on some rock and some anthems over the sound speakers and record the fight song and have local artists come in and rock during halftime.   Because if it's not fun, then what the heck are they doing and why are you investing so much money into it.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a very big fan of many types of music.  I am would not claim to be terribly knowledgeable, but I do attend a fair number of live concerts, to include my season tickets to the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.  

That being said, I really am not a big fan of the USF band.  During the game they always seem to play at the wrong times.  Very simple rule, when USF is on offense do not play unless/until they score. The half time show features Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall" which, IMHO, doesn't really lend itself well to a band performance.  Worst probably, they always seem to yell "We don't need no education...", then what the hell are they doing at USF.
