another offseason filler: cheers at game

Recommended Posts

I like it how it is now, though I think the tap-off for the next time thorugh start as soon as they hit the last note so it's more continuous. That being said, I think there's something to be said for starting it at dotted half (or quarter, I don't know how it's written)=60 or so and builds into an uncontrollable maelstrom. Hell, it could be a band camp finger/chops drill to see how fast you can legitimately build it.

The problem is that the song sounds like it is supposed to end when they stop -- even heard that comment a few times last season from both USF and visiting fans...

I was at the outback bowl and was also impressed by the student section controlling the wave.  I talked about that for days afterwards.  The super fast, super slow, in reverse and split waves, never seen anything like it.

I agree a cheer or chant needs to follow the #8.

Another one of my favorite fan-originated cheers (which they keep trying to kill) is the words to Rock and Roll Part II being "Hey! You Suck!!" in College Park, MD.

Remember when the pa would announce the score as

"Your South Florida Bulls 21 and the ________" dead silence.   I loved that one.

Also at South Carolina when the Cocks got 10 yards the announcer would say "And another South Carolina" and then the entire stadium seemed to yell

"FIRST DOWN!"

Drummer, your in NC, ever been to an ECU game? The PA announcer is an old Southern guy. When ECU gets a 1st down he'll describe the play then say "Where it is a 1st down" and the students follow with "Pirates!"

Haven't been to an ECU game--I've been here just under a year now and actually haven't hit any NC college football games except, of course, the bowl game. This coming year I will at least hit A&T and our game at Chapel Hill.

We do have the "hey go bulls song" Where it goes "hey go bulls, hey go bulls, hey go bulls, were gunna kick the **** out of you... and you... and you, and you, and you"

Then at bball games, when anounciong the other team, the students will say after each name.   "Big deal"  or "so what" or "who cares"
