I think opposing fan's opinions on game and non-game experiences are interesting, if put in perspective.

One major point of disagreement is that the Miami Sunsations are better than the Sun Dolls.

I just want to point out the "negative" parts of this post from a GU board. Yes there were some good things mentioned. Overall though, I am kind of disappointed.

--Encouraging words from our bartender at Tia’s when we asked him if many students were going to show up at the Sun Dome for the game that night: “Oh…I doubt it…we have the worst school spirit ever.â€Â

If this was said by a USF student.. shame on you.. the "lack" of school spirit is caused mainly from students like you.

But at half capacity, the Sun Dome is FAR from an intimidating arena. It reminds me a little bit of Alumni Hall in Annapolis for those who went to that game earlier in the year, and a little of a Ryder Center-Miami Convocation Center-Whatever the hell bank it’s name after now Center on steroids. Ugly color schemeâ€â€there are alternating sections of green and gold throughout the arena,

Just give us a few years. I have to agree with the colors.. we need gold and not yellow and off yellow IMO.

The layout of the Sun Dome is ATROCIOUS howeverâ€â€there are four entrances that I could tell, and when you walk in there’s a little “patio†area with some tables and food machines next to the bathrooms. But that’s the ONLY concourse area to really speak ofâ€â€you walk to your seats through this narrow walkway around the middle level that seems designed especially to accommodate 1.5 people at the same time.

Do you guys even have an on campus arena? What do you expect, a pro arena like the MCI Center?

--As for the stuff USF’s students did: they do have a decently clever t-shirt slogan, in the angry-sarcastic-student-fan-sense: “If You Can’t See, Stand Up!†Man, how I wish I could have pulled that one out on some angry old farts at McD back in the days of the Esherick cupcakes. They also have a convenient promotional tie-in with Dodge (“Grab Life by the Hornsâ€Â).

The whole “Sign of the Bull†thing is super lame thoughâ€â€mainly because where I come from they call it “Hook ‘Em Hornsâ€Â. AND I’M FROM FLORIDA!! The little circular arm motion they do with it is even betterâ€â€think Steve Buscemi as the dance instructor in the “Judge Judy†sketch on SNL.

Must be a gator fan before deciding to go to GU. I LOVE the figure eight "sign of the bull"

“Bulls on Paradeâ€Â.

--The only good offering from the smallish USF band: You Dropped a Bomb on Me. And, possibly, the giant inflatable “BRICK†thing waved at GU FT shooters during the second half. I have no idea if that guy was actually in the band.

That's like a 1/4th of the band. They all show up for our I-A football games. HOT is great!

--Layup line/Lineup Intro Music:

BAD: “It’s Goin’ Down†by the X-Ecutioners, USF Bulls

I like it, how about you?

--Okay, one thing USF does deserve credit for (outside of, you know, outplaying us for 40 minutes and turning Hoyatalk into one giant nuclear meltdown): the USF Sun Dolls. Not QUITE the Sunsations, but hey, it’s their first year in the conference.

NOTHING is better than the Sundolls!

--If you’re wondering, and I know you are…yes, about 5 USF students tried to rush the court from the corner at the end of the game. And were shut down…by some fat guy in plain clothes. Probably a good thing the student section didn’t do anything, because had they taken the path of least resistance, they almost certainly would have killed our radio announce team. Which would be bad for the drinking games and all.

We will rush when the time is right. And next time, no one will stop our students.

Great recap Flhoya...definatley not one of the best layouts for an arena...i was in the upper section and it took me forever to realize you had to enter the bottom bowl in order to find a restroom and food...And the scoreboards were annoying and rarely showed stats on the game..Overall though happy i made the trip over there despite the lousy performance

That is because you are a loser! Jealous of our on campus arena scoreboards? Get over yourself.

Sorry guys, but this post kind of angered me a bit. Good find though Ricky  ;)

Yea .. I give him credit. Would be nice to have a student travel to some of our away games and post recaps like that.

Actually, I think that the guy was fair.  There appears to be no meanness to the post, just his opinions.  I don't necessarily agree with everything he wrote but at least he was being objective unlike some who would just say inane things like "USF is a commuter school".

I guess I agree too. USF is at a time where more and more people know who we are. I just don’t want us to be classified as "sucky" when people hear USF.

The thing that really amuses me, is if these guys went up to watch the Gator's play, it'd be a whole different story...and they have THE EXACT SAME ARENA.

I'm glad this moron noticed the SBC shirts!

Well hopefully he saw our student sections almost full and tht got us some respect.

Do you know how tired I am of hearing excuse about their sick player Jeff Green.  This was not the reason they lost.  We outplayed them.  We shot the ball well, as did they, we hit our free throws at the end.  Maybe if their team could make a few layups they could have pulled it out.

Next game coach spend a little more time in the layup line.

I'm not sure how the Dome's interior configuration differs from O'Connell, but I have to admit that the walkway being 1.5 people wide is a deserved criticism.
