Athletics bans McMurphy from the Sundome

They also "operate"  Red McEwen Baseball Stadium,  the USF Golf Course, the USF Soccer Stadium, the USF Varsity Tennis Complex, and the USF Varsity Softball Field.

How does a contract to operate a facility "technically" or otherwise effect the ownership of the property?

Facts not opinions please.

It makes a big difference, legally. It limits the University's liability -- and this has come up in several lawsuits regarding First Amendment rights at the Sun Dome.

I think the purpose of this thread is the Sundome can do whatever it wants with it's attendees but if you ban someone because you don't like what they write in the free press....there's a problem there. So what if the Tribune decides not to cover USF altogether. It affects recruiting, endowments, public perception. That is just stupid. I guess they have never heard of freedom of the press. I guess we could change our name to the University of Cuba at South Florida.

You do realize that the "Sundome bans McMurphy" was a farce? Just some ******** because someone got shown the door for wearing a classless t-shirt ....

To answer your question the SunDome is owned like the rest of the University by the State of Florida.  SunDome Inc. runs the building and day to day operations.  This was done for liablity issues and to encourage the SunDome Inc  to make money and lower University cost.
